Making the most of Kindermusik Class
Plan to arrive 5 minutes early for class. Arriving a little before class provides time for your child to settle into the musical environment as they prepare to enjoy exploring instruments. Be sure to dress comfortably.
During class, the most important thing you can do for your child is to be an active and patient role model. It is not uncommon for a child to attend several classes before feeling comfortable in class. Don’t be discouraged –what a child is absorbing is often evidenced in the comfort of the home environment rather than in a certain level of participation in class. The understanding and consistency of the parent in class and at home are keys to facilitating musical learning and growth.
I love for parents to visit before or after class, but not during class time, please! ☺When you are an active, focused participant in the class, your child will model your actions and focus more fully too!
Please make use of the At Home Materials. Frequent reinforcement at home throughout the week makes all the difference in a child’s comfort and participation in the classroom.

Temple Day School Considerations
The United Methodist Temple is blessed to support a wonderful pre-school program, Temple Day School. Kindermusik classes will be in the same hallway as TDS. Please consider the following:

When you and your child arrive for class you must sign in at the church office desk and pick up a Kindermusik name tag. Then go directly to the Kindermusik classroom or waiting area.

For the protection of our Day School children and to keep from disrupting Temple Day School, NO ONE is allowed in the halls or classrooms before, after or during Kindermusik. 

Please do not leave children unattended.

When class is over please sign out at the church office desk and return your name tag.

Non-enrolled siblings
Due to limited class size and the delicacy of the younger class settings, classes can only accommodate non-enrolled siblings when the sibling is young enough to stay contented in a car seat. Please be considerate and avoid distractions as much as possible. If the baby cries or needs attention, please slip out of the room until the situation is resolved.

Food, Drinks, Pacifiers and Toys
Please refrain from bringing toys, sip cups and other drinks into class. If your child needs a snack or drink break please bring them to the waiting area to take care of their needs. Also, please keep pacifiers out of sight during class. At Kindermusik we encourage vocalization and language development, which can be stifled with a passie!

Disruptive behavior
Because we want all children to enjoy a safe Kindermusik experience, running, screaming, pushing, hitting and throwing instruments (it happens to all of us!) will not be allowed. If this happens please go to the waiting area with your child to give your child a moment to calm down. Do come back as soon as your child is ready!

Sick policy
Please do not bring your child to Kindermusik if he or she is ill. If your child has had a fever or other symptoms, please make sure they have been free of fever or illness for 24 hours before bringing them to class.

Missed Classes

Classes will only be made up in the case of teacher illness. The teacher will notify the class as to the date and time of the make up class.
